Plumber III
Job Overview
The Plumber III is responsible for servicing all plumbing and piping systems. The incumbent should be licensed with a CCCDI License and will also be expected to resolve mechanical maintenance problems on a limited basis. Reports to Plumbing and Mechanical Maintenance Manager. This is a full-time position and pays $41-$46/hr.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain plumbing, piping systems, and equipment systems as required.
- Install, remodel, repair, and maintain all plumbing equipment and systems with thorough checking of work. This includes commercial kitchen equipment and some fire sprinkler systems.
- Maintain the following professional license: Illinois Environmental Protections Agency, Division of Public Water Supplies, Cross Connection Control Device Inspector License.
- Read mechanical prints and technical information.
- Consult and work with contractors or service representatives on projects.
- Use lock-out/tag-out procedure, personal protective equipment and safe work practices as instructed.
- Inform "customers" through supervisor of any interruption in services before service shutdown.
- Respond to campus emergencies during or after regular working hours.
- Keep all tools, equipment and work are as clean and in good repair.
- Support multi-trade tasks and perform duties as assigned.
- Continue personal growth in the job and conduct oneself ethically at all times to enhance the image of Wheaton College and the Facilities Department.
- Carry out various preventive maintenance programs.

Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Five or more years of plumbing experience consisting of both commercial and residential experience.
- Must have Plumbing License from State of Illinois, and CCDI from State
- Should have in depth understanding of plumbing terminology, equipment names, and the systems and processes involved with equipment.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical prints and technical equipment and installation information.
- Ability to work independently on both routine and complex tasks.
- Disciplined and mature outlook toward work responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
The employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk, stand, sit, kneel, crawl, stand on a ladder or scaffolding, reach, squat and work with hands above head for long periods of time. Required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel objects and work outside during all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.) Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
