DISTRICT NURSE LOCATION: District Office SUPERVISOR: Superintendent Purpose of Position The School Nurse provides comprehensive health services that support student learning and well-being. This position promotes optimal physical, mental, emotional, and social development; removes health-related barriers to learning; and ensures compliance with state and federal health regulations. The School Nurse serves as a key member of the educational team, collaborating with staff, families, and community providers to support student success. Essential Functions Student Health Services & Direct Care · Provide assessment, triage, and care for student illness, injury, and chronic health conditions · Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans (IHPs), emergency care plans, and support plans for students with medical needs · Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and district policy · Monitor and support students with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, seizures, allergies) · Provide case management and care coordination for medically fragile students Health Records & Compliance · Maintain accurate, confidential student health records in compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and state regulations · Monitor and ensure compliance with required health mandates, including: -Immunizations (including 7th grade Tdap requirements) -Tuberculosis (TB) risk assessments/tests -Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) exams -Oral health (dental) assessments · Enter and maintain health data in student information systems (e.g., Aeries) and cumulative records · Prepare, maintain, and submit required state and district reports related to student health Health Screenings & Follow-Up · Coordinate and conduct mandated screenings, including: Vision (including color vision) Hearing Scoliosis (as required) · Notify parents/guardians of screening
