We are actively seeking two (2) experienced manufacturing Production Supervisors to lead assigned production teams to achieve manufacturing success. Levering effective people leadership and manufacturing best practices, methodologies, technology and processes to produce quality wood products in a safe and efficient manner.

POSITION PURPOSE

Independently the Production Supervisor is responsible for achieving established production goals through effective leadership and management of assigned resources, equipment, and machinery. Incumbent is also responsible for daily activities including but not limited to production work, data collection and reporting, training, quality and safety. Responsible for the management of assigned staff, including oversight for the effective completion of assigned tasks, and execution of performance management in accordance with company policies and procedures

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for maintaining production tracking records to monitor completed work, identify where orders are delayed, manage workflow and perform follow-up on recurring issues.
  • Review staffing, attendance, work areas, equipment readiness, and available work at the start of the shift; address absences or startup issues before production begins. – Evaluate resources.
  • Responsible for effective and timely resource allocations based on production needs.
  • Oversee assigned department production status, pending orders, and work in progress to prioritize and maximize resource capabilities to achieve productivity and quality goals.
  • Responsible for process and workflow efficiency between all assigned departments and collaboration with peer supervisor(s) overseeing other departments in production workflow.
  • Identify part or material issues or challenges and collaborate with other departments and management to adjust resources and workflow accordingly to mitigate and resolve to return to normal production activity.
  • Responsible for monitoring cutting tools, blades, sanding belts/heads, adhesives, fillers, glue supplies, safety supplies, and other production consumables; initiate replenishment or sharpening before shortages interrupt production through effective and timely communication with maintenance and tooling departments.
  • Perform material and product inspections in accordance with standard operating procedures and scheduled quality protocols to identify defects or specification concerns. Perform analysis to determine whether the item can be repaired, requires process adjustment, or must be remade.
  • Responsible for ongoing and consistent quality inspections including but not limited to verifying wood criteria, profiles, dimensions, thickness, sanding quality, glue removal, surface condition, and special customer specifications throughout Parts and Finish Sand.
  • Develop alternate production methods or reroute work when equipment is unavailable and reorganize remaining work to minimize downtime while repairs are completed.
  • Lead, facilitate, attend, actively participate in, and contribute to weekly, monthly and ad-hoc meetings with management and staff including but not limited to production, communication, and safety meetings. Perform regular staff meetings with direct staff.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities of a production lead as needed or required.
  • Perform personnel functions such as selection, training, evaluation, goal setting, performance management, corrective action, coaching and mentoring.
  • Timely review and approval of assigned employee timesheets, time off requests, and absences.

ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Maintain a consumable inventory tracking system documenting items received, items issued, usage history, and reorder timing to improve supply control and accountability.
  • Review incoming material for production suitability and escalate material that does not meet wood criteria or order specifications so replacement or alternate material can be obtained.
  • Responsible for investigating production errors, identify the process or cause, correct the immediate issue when possible, and coach employees to prevent recurrence.
  • Perform continuous improvement by using production records and observed errors to identify recurring issues, update work practices, and recommend clearer or more current process guidance.
  • Responsible for resolving routine machine or production-system issues while triaging and escalating mechanical, technical, or programming problems to appropriate department for resolution.
  • Responsible for coordinating the lumber inventory for doors and molding in collaboration with the Customer Engagement department.
  • Manage MDF and Venner Inventory to have material available for production needs.
  • Executes all duties and responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner adhering to confidentiality obligations, safety expectations, and compliance requirements.
  • Carries out duties in compliance with all federal and state regulations and guidelines.
  • Successfully completes assigned regulatory and job training requirements.
  • Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
  • Remains current in profession and industry trends.
  • Demonstrates a passion and commitment to continuous improvement through the development and presentation of change recommendations starting with a business case and following through to implementation.
  • Is available for other duties as required.
  • Is available for overtime as needed.

  • Direct supervision of assigned production staff.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of people leadership experience.
  • Four (4) years of experience performing production duties in a manufacturing environment; or two (2) years of experience successfully performing production lead duties at Westwind.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / TRAVEL

  • The duties and responsibilities of this position are performed in a warehouse / manufacturing facility / inside / exposure to noise / moving machinery.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
