We are actively seeking an experienced Logistics Supervisor to lead the logisitics department from receiving through shipping and distribution. The successful candidate will leverage industry best practices and advanced technologies and systems to maximize efficiency and on time delivery to our valued customers.

POSITION PURPOSE

Independently the Logistics Supervisor manages and executes all logistics for the company. Incumbent performs various tasks and activities including but not limited to shipping, receiving, warehouse safety and security, logistic integration with operations and systems. The Logistics Supervisor is required to have experience in logistics, shipping, warehouse operations, and people leadership. Responsible for the management of all shipping staff, including oversight for the effective completion of assigned tasks, and execution of performance management in accordance with company policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Responsible for planning, developing, or implementing warehouse safety and security programs and activities.
• Perform inspections of physical conditions of warehouses, vehicles, and equipment and order testing, maintenance, repairs, or replacements.
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping.
• Analyze all aspects of company logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies.
• Responsible for resolving problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues.
• Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing, shipping, or salvaging products or materials.
• Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers.
• Monitor inventory levels of shipping products or materials in warehouses.
• Establish or monitor specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems.
• Advise sales and billing departments of transportation charges for customers' accounts.
• Analyze expenditures and other financial information to develop plans, policies, or budgets for increasing profits or improving services.
• Collaborate with department heads to coordinate warehouse activities, such as production, sales, records control or purchasing.
• Responsible for maintaining metrics, reports, process documentation, and customer service logs.
• Responsible for implementing energy saving changes to transportation services, such as reducing routes, optimizing capacities, employing alternate modes of transportation, or minimizing idling.
• Collaborate with Production Manager and leadership team on the development or implementation plans for facility modification or expansion, such as equipment purchase or changes in space allocation or structural design.
• Review invoices, work orders, consumption reports, or demand forecasts to estimate peak performance periods and to issue work assignments safely, efficiently and effectively.
• Lead, facilitate, attend, actively participate in, and contribute to weekly, monthly and ad-hoc meetings with management and staff. Perform regular staff meetings with production team leads.
• Perform personnel functions such as selection, training, evaluation, goal setting, performance management, corrective action, coaching and mentoring.
• Timely review and approval of all employee timesheets, time off requests, and absences.

PEOPLE LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct management of assigned logistics staff and drivers.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree or High School Diploma or GED plus five (5) years of logistics experience.
• Five (5) years of shipping management experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Three (3) years of direct people leadership experience in a manufacturing and production environment.
• Valid Driver’s License.

• Freight Classification and Shipping Documentation.
• Inventory Control Methodologies.
• Lean Manufacturing methodologies such as 5S (Sustain, Standardize, Shine, Set in Order, Sort) and Kaizen.
• Safety and OSHA Regulatory Compliance.
• Department of Transportation Regulatory Compliance.

SOFTWARE PROFICIENCY

Demonstrated proficiency with:

WORK ENVIRONMENT / TRAVEL

• The duties and responsibilities of this position are performed in a warehouse, outside, inside, exposed to weather, exposure to noise and moving machinery.
• Travel – this position requires 25% of local / regional / domestic travel.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
