Primary Responsibilities:
- Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety with veterinary anesthesia monitoring techniques
- Perform dental radiographs, dental scale/polish, and charting
- Maintain detailed medical records, update patient files in veterinary software, and communicate effectively with pet owners about treatment plans and pet care instructions
- Proficient in IV catheter placement and phlebotomy
- Utilizes a less is more philosophy and Fear Free restraint
- Ability to mentor and train new assistant
Requirements
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) credential from an accredited program is required
- Proven experience in veterinary settings with skills in animal handling, dog handling, and pet care
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and emergency medicine practices
- Hands-on experience with laboratory work, diagnostic radiology including X-ray procedures, and critical & intensive care environments
- Ability to operate medical equipment such as radiology machines, anesthesia units, and laboratory analyzers
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique, veterinary surgical assistance, and medication administration protocols
- Excellent client communication skills to educate pet owners about animal health needs and treatment options
- Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record keeping and scheduling is preferred
