What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dietitian PT position at WESTMINSTER CANTERBURY?
JOB SUMMARY: Plan and deliver resident nutritional care in accordance with current federal, state and local
regulations and established quality care practices designed to meet the individual tastes and needs of the residents
to facilitate their optimal dietary health.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
• Assess resident nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current care plans to develop and implement
nutrition plans and provide counseling; coordinate with physicians and the inter disciplinary team to
deliver optimal dietary care
• Approve all menus and monitor food service operations to ensure conformance to nutritional, safety,
sanitation and quality standards
• Advise residents and their families on nutritional principles, diet modifications and food selection
• Serve as a resource for residents, staff and visitors for basic rules of good nutrition, healthy eating habits
and the link between nutrition and health
• Apply accurate MDS codes according to RAI guidance, federal and state regulations, the Center for
Medicare and Medicaid Services regulations (CMS), and internal policies and procedures
• Participate and comply with all internal (CQI) and external regulatory requirements
• Additional duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to perform considerable walking, standing, stretching and reaching.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance, 26 pounds with manual or mechanical assistance
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
• Knowledge of the effect of aging on dietary requirements
• In-depth knowledge of current regulations as they pertain to nutrition
• Ability to plan, develop, implement, publicize and evaluate nutrition programs
• Excellent communication skills and ability to speak publicly.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
• Strong documentation, organization, budgetary and time management skills
• Ability to make decisions and choices independently
• Ability to deal tactfully with residents, staff, contracted instructors, venue personnel, visitors and the
general public
• Ability to lead and motivate residents to explore new experiences to enhance quality of life
