Lead Complex Substation Programs for Utility-Scale Renewables

Contract & Location
- 1-year W-2 contract
- Juno Beach, FL–based with remote work available
- Reports to the onsite Manager

- Have you led substation programs end-to-end—from conceptual engineering through energization?
- Can you navigate interconnection reviews with Transmission Services and work seamlessly with transmission owners/operators/ISOs?
- Are you adept at managing long-lead materials and mitigating risk to schedule and budget?
- Do you bring 15 years of technical leadership in substation engineering?
What You'll Own
- All assigned substation projects from conception (Early Stage) through construction and commissioning (Execution).
- Partner with the Early-Stage Project Manager and Development to define engineering scope and requirements.
- Build scopes of work, run competitive bids, evaluate proposals, and award engineering services via NEER's Integrated Supply Chain (ISC).
- Coordinate site development: surveys, geotechnical, permitting, and data/engineering updates.
- Competitively source and contract geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services; support E&C Cost Estimating with scope assumptions.
- Represent E&C interests internally and externally; prepare management presentations on progress, issues, and risk mitigation.
- Support Transmission Services during interconnection documentation reviews.
- Interface with transmission owners/operators/ISOs to ensure deliverables are accurate and meet off-taker requirements.
- Oversee long-lead major material orders to avoid delays and budget overruns.
- Assist ISC with SOW creation/approval and prompt shopping cart preparation for engineering services and materials.
- Update E&C Estimating templates with project feedback, technical insights, and scope changes.
- Define work plans and lines of demarcation across engineering resources.
- Support commissioning to achieve corporate goals.
- Support Legal on regulatory filings, depositions, and hearings.
What You'll Bring
- 15 years of experience in substation engineering leadership.
- Strong cross-functional coordination and vendor management skills.
- Proven ability to communicate at multiple management levels.

Pay & Benefits
- Estimated base rate: $91.00/hr. to $96.00/hr., dependent on experience, qualifications, and skills
