Job Summary
The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring the preparation and presentation of high-quality food dishes while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This role involves supervising kitchen staff, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong culinary skills, leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering excellent food service
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff activities, ensuring efficient food preparation and service.
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control to maintain high standards.
- Assist in menu planning and development, considering seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Manage inventory and food supplies, placing orders as needed and minimizing waste.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Conduct training for new kitchen staff on proper food handling, preparation techniques, and safety protocols.
- Address staff performance issues and provide feedback to foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications and Physical Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree or certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a kitchen environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Excellent culinary skills and a passion for food presentation and quality.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while performing kitchen duties.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (e.g., food supplies, equipment).
- Ability to work in a hot, noisy, and sometimes stressful kitchen environment
