The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in overseeing the maintenance, safety, and repair of all hotel facilities and systems. This role ensures smooth daily operations, efficient use of resources, and prompt response to guest and property needs, contributing to both the guest experience and overall operational excellence.
HOW YOU?LL SHAPE THE EXPERIENCE & FUTURE
- Assume leadership of the Engineering Department when the Chief Engineer is unavailable.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications by reviewing schedules and estimating labor requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance activities including painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and pool operations.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest service requests.
- Monitor and record equipment operations and utility meter readings daily.
- Maintain Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) files and follow emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with Housekeeping, Front Desk, and other departments to ensure smooth coordination of hotel operations.
- Work within departmental budgets and assist in managing expenses.
- Identify and resolve work problems; provide guidance and support to team members.
- Recommend and support personnel actions, such as training, promotions, and disciplinary measures.
- Recognize and reward employees for exceeding performance expectations.
- Maintain consistent attendance and availability to support hotel operations.
- Other duties as assigned.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
- Vocational Institution Certificate required, with completion of apprenticeship in plumbing and/or electrical repair.
