What are the responsibilities and job description for the SPECIAL EDUCATION EXTENDED YEAR SUMMER PROGRAM 2026 - PARAPROFESSIONALS position at Westfield Public Schools?
Applications will be accepted for special education paraprofessional positions in the Westfield Public School District for the 2026 Special Education Extended Year Program. This program is scheduled to begin July 6, 2026 and continue for four weeks, Monday Thursday (no Friday dates) ending on July 30, 2026. The location is expected to be at Westfield River Elementary School.
Training Date:
July 1, 2025 (all staff) 8:30 am 3:00 pm with hour unpaid lunch
Student Hours:
9:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Monday Thursday
No School on Fridays
FUNDING:
Rate of Pay: $18.03 per hour with no benefits, not to exceed a total of 79 hours
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position subject to funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to communicate and work successfully with staff and all students
- Help prepare for activities in the classroom
- Familiarity with elementary interventions and Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support (PBIS)
- Support small group work according to levels of language acquisition and cognitive development
- Provide one-on-one assistance when needed
- Walk students back and forth to designated areas for scheduled activities
- Provide clarification in native language when requested by classroom teacher
- Join students for breakfast and lunch
- Assist with arrival and dismissal of students.
- Assist in communication between student and teacher, when needed.
- Attend field trips.
- May be assigned to more than one classroom.
- Perform any duties that may be assigned by the Administrator of Special Education.
This position subject to funding.
