Westfield Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for anticipated openings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of authorized administrators shall:
- Teach knowledge and skills in art, including crafts, drawing, painting, lettering, design, commercial art, art history, and three-dimensional art to elementary students, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Westfield Public Schools and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content
- Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
- Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciation and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art
- Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing, painting, and modeling, using standard and teacher-prepared instruction aids
- Develop instructional plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time
- Provide individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
- Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment.
- Plans and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students' work for the school and the community.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
- Identify students needs, and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems.
- Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day.
- Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education.
- Participate in faculty committees and sponsorship of student activities.
- Work cooperatively with all aspects of the school administrative team/faculty and citizens to insure the highest quality of educational programs.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the building principal or Superintendent of Schools.
Salary : $50,000 - $98,000
