Class III Wastewater Treatment Plant Western Wayne Regional Sewage District
Position Summary
The Plant Superintendent is responsible for the overall management, operation, and
regulatory compliance of the District’s Class III Wastewater Treatment Plant and collection
system.
Key Responsibilities Operations & Maintenance
- Oversee daily operations of the wastewater treatment plant and collection system
- Ensure proper maintenance, repair, and optimization of equipment
- Monitor and adjust treatment processes
- Maintain operational efficiency
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Collect and analyze wastewater samples
- Prepare and submit required reports
- Maintain accurate records
Leadership & Personnel Management
- Supervise and direct plant personnel
- Conduct hiring and staffing recommendations
- Manage schedules and evaluate performance
Financial & Administrative Oversight
- Manage budgets and financial controls
- Maintain financial records and reports
- Process payments and maintain inventory
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as primary contact for customers and contractors
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies
- Attend and present at Board meetings
Required Qualifications
- Indiana Class III Wastewater License (or Class II with ability to upgrade)
- Knowledge of SCADA systems
- Ability to interpret technical documents
- Strong leadership and communication skills
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Combination of office and field work
- Exposure to various environmental conditions
- Physical activity including lifting up to 50 lbs
- On-call availability for emergencies
System Overview
- 1,220 customers serving ~3,000 population
- 3 communities, 6 lift stations, 420 septic tanks
- Pretreatment and land application programs
Compensation & Benefits
Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, PTO, and retirement.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000
