West Main Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team with a special focus on supporting our surgical and procedural cases. You’ll work closely with our veterinarians and technician team to prepare patients for procedures, support anesthesia and surgery, maintain a clean and organized surgical environment, and provide attentive patient care throughout the day. West Main Animal Hospital in Medford, OR, is a four-doctor small animal practice providing comprehensive veterinary care for dogs and cats throughout the Rogue Valley. The hospital offers wellness and preventive care, vaccinations, dentistry, surgery, diagnostics and medical imaging, urgent care, dermatology, behavioral consultations, microchipping, and senior pet care. In this position, you will take an active role in:
- Prepare surgical and procedure areas, including equipment, instruments, and supplies
- Support veterinarians and technicians during surgical, dental, and other procedures
- Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and patient recovery under the direction of the veterinary team
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment while keeping treatment areas clean, organized, and safe
- Maintain stocked treatment and surgical areas while working collaboratively with the veterinary and client service teams
- Compensation: $20 - $24 per hour
- This is a full-time position with a 4/10 schedule. Availability is needed Monday through Thursday.
- Bonus package: Up to $500 depending on experience

- 3 years of veterinary assistant experience preferred
- Previous experience supporting surgical or anesthetic cases
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols
- Ability to safely restrain and handle dogs and cats
- Familiarity with surgical preparation, instrument handling, and maintaining a clean surgical environment
- Experience assisting with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery
- Experience with dental procedures and dental radiography is a plus
- Familiarity with venipuncture, intravenous catheter placement, and laboratory sample collection
