A Day in the Life of a Senior Software Developer I
As a Senior Software Developer I, you will play a key role in supporting and enhancing a variety of in-house developed and vendor-supported business applications that serve Western & Southern associates and retirees. This position is ideal for a full-stack developer who enjoys designing modern solutions, integrating enterprise systems, and working closely with business partners to deliver impactful technology solutions.
You will design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications while helping modernize our technology footprint. In this role, you will collaborate with HR/Benefits teams and other corporate business areas to test, implement, and support application changes that improve business processes and user experiences.
This position is part of a small, collaborative development team responsible for supporting numerous business applications used by high-profile business partners. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment and enjoys solving complex problems while delivering results.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full-stack development for enterprise web applications
- Design and develop solutions aligned with business and technical requirements
- Create and maintain data integrations across multiple business applications
- Develop and maintain REST APIs and service-based integrations
- Collaborate with HR/Benefits and corporate business teams to test and implement application changes
- Provide ongoing application maintenance and production support
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues while optimizing performance
- Work with architects, developers, business partners, and vendors to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, collaboration, troubleshooting ability, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
