JOB DESCRIPTION: The Service Parts Runner is responsible for the timely pickup and delivery of parts, tools, and materials between suppliers, the parts warehouse, and field technicians working on fuel storage tanks, dispensers, and pumps. This role is essential for minimizing downtime at service stations and ensuring technicians have the necessary components to complete repairs efficiently.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Parts Delivery: Transport parts, equipment, and fuel system components from vendors or the main warehouse to field technicians at various job sites.
- Core Returns: Identify, tag, and crate used or broken parts (cores) to be returned to manufacturers for warranty or credit.
- Logistics & Documentation: Use inventory software, handheld scanners, or required paperwork to track parts, maintain delivery records, and update the Service Operations Manager on statuses.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Safely operate company vehicles and ensure they are clean, fueled, and maintained.
- Parts Warehouse Maintenance: Keep the parts inventory area clean, organized, and safe.
- Inventory Management (as a backup to the warehouse team, if needed): Receive, unpack, and stock parts in the warehouse; organize inventory and assist with cycle counts.
- Other tasks as requested by Management.
EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
- High school Diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
- Must have a driving record acceptable to the Insurance Carrier.
- Be able to pass a DOT Medical Exam (Commercial DL NOT required).
- Experience with driving larger vehicles using right side mirrors only preferred.
- General knowledge of diesel versus gas vehicles preferred
- Expertise using GPS and planning ahead for the best, safest route to the destination.
- Forklift Experience preferred.
- Familiarity with the use of small hand tools preferred.
- 1-2 years of warehouse experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
- Proven history of being reliable and dependable.
JOB SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
- Follow and promote all safety protocols during work hours while working, driving, loading, lifting, moving any tools, equipment, furniture, or storage units.
- When required, wear safety boots and other Personal Protective Equipment (safety vest, safety glasses, noise protection, fall protection, etc.).
- Participates in the monthly Field Safety Meetings and all safety training required.
