JOB DESCRIPTION: The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the company’s accounting operations, including job costing, work-in-progress reporting, and financial reporting, while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance with accounting standards. This role partners with department leaders and the Assistant Manager of Accounting and Finance to provide financial information and insights that support effective decision-making.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Lead and supervise the accounting team, setting goals and objectives, delegating tasks, monitoring performance, providing feedback, resolving issues, ensuring compliance with company policies, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Review/Approve bank statements, general ledger accounts, and subsidiary ledgers.
- Manage fixed asset schedules and depreciation records.
- Manage accounts payable.
- Manage internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Budgeting and forecasting activities as needed.
- Improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Manage Cash Flow/LOC/Banking Relationships.
- Manage Jonas (ERP) processes related to accounting and financial reporting.
- Oversee sales and use tax compliance and payments.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Manager of Accounting and Finance on the following job functions:
- Manage accounts receivable.
- Review and approve journal entries, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
- Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Manage financial statements preparation, variance reports, and supporting schedules.
- Provide financial insights to company leadership that support effective decision-making.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.
EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
- A college degree in accounting or a related field is preferred. CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of work experience in accounting.
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience managing a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive and analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data.
- Ability to problem solve and make decisions in a way that is thorough yet efficient.
- Detail-oriented.
- Good team player; must have a good attitude and be approachable.
- Ability to work autonomously and as a team; self-motivated.
- Proven history of being reliable and dependable.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with ERP systems strongly preferred.
