What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Care Coordinator I position at Western New York Dermatology?
Position Summary:
Performs administrative duties under the direction of the Administrative Supervisor. Administrative duties may include arriving patients for their appointments, rescheduling appointments if necessary, check-in patients, maintaining medical records, and collecting copay's and/or balances when necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Greeting patients at the arrival of their appointments.
Directing patients where they need to go for their appointment.
Marking patients into their appointment status - ie. arriving patients for their appointment
Checking-in patients when appropriate
Collecting copay's and/or balances when appropriate
Rescheduling patients appointments when necessary
Verify with established patient that their information has not changed, update any changed information.
Log any non-employee that enters the back office on the office approved sign in sheet.
Being proficient in conflict resolution
Ensures patient and practice confidentiality adhering to HIPAA standards.
Maintains a working knowledge of medical terminology and dermatology.
Maintains a professional appearance and conduct at all times.
Make sure if patient needs a referral there is an active one in the chart.
Make sure that the waiting room and patient bathroom is clean, organized, and stocked.
Additional Responsibilities:
Maintains work area to ensure a neat and clean environment.
Relays basic triage as directed by a provider and per specific office protocol and procedures.
Works patiently and effectively with all levels of employees; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management.
Documents work processes as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Required
Being proficient in conflict resolution
The ability to work at a fast pace and think independently.
Proficient with commonly used computer medical office programs as well as iPads.
Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
Ability to maintain clear effective thinking and act calmly in stressful situations
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Level of Education and Experience:
Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office environment preferred.
High School Diploma/GED or higher
