General Summary
Tunes and maintains pianos in the School of Music inventory.
Major Duties
- Maintains the School of Music practice room, classroom, and studio pianos in working condition and ready for use by students and faculty.
- Prepares concert pianos for all performances. Ensures that each performer’s tuning preferences are met.
- Coordinates maintenance schedule to maximize preparedness of pianos and minimize equipment losses.
- Sets priorities for purchases, sales and maintenance of all keyboards in the School.
- Manages the piano maintenance budget.
- Informs and updates supervisors on condition and value of instruments in the School inventory.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.
- Three years’ relevant experience.
- Registered Piano Technician (Piano Technician’s Guild).
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
Desired Qualifications
- Five years’ relevant experience.

Physical requirements and working conditions
- Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials from 25 to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving materials greater than 50 pounds.
- Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
