General Summary
Oversees the business operations of the grant to ensure the integrity of financial processes and compliance with applicable regulations. Provides guidance on institutional and federal requirements to support effective program administration and maintain adherence to funding guidelines.
Major Duties
- Provides leadership and vision for the GEAR UP Learning Center and oversees the development of programs and activities for target populations. Researches best practices and emerging trends to enhance services and continually evaluates program effectiveness to ensure quality and impact.
- Supervises program staff and oversees daily operations of the unit, including hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of professional and student employees who support academic services and college preparation programming.
- Serves as a liaison to the funding agency, campus partners, community organizations, and other external stakeholders. Represents the program within the campus community and develops marketing strategies to promote program initiatives.
- Ensures financial and budgetary accountability for the program and seeks new funding opportunities to strengthen and expand program services.
- Submits all required reports and communications to funding agency by required deadlines.
- Assists in the collection of program data needed for evaluation.
- Updates program website content using the University’s content management system and ensures materials comply with institutional guidelines.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with federal and state guidelines and regulations as well as University and departmental policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.
- Five years’ relevant experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated success in communicating effectively with a diverse range of constituencies including staff, faculty, K-12 administrators, community members, and youth.
- Experience working with first generation, college-bound students.
- Experience working with low income students and families.
- Experience with budget management.
- Experience with federal grant administration.
- Experience with college readiness programs within K-12 school systems or within higher education.
- Experience with K-12 to post-secondary transition programs.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders, school district representatives and community partners.
Desired Qualifications
- Seven years’ relevant experience
- Experience with college readiness programs within K-12 school systems and within higher education.
- Experience with GEAR UP partnership grants or similar pre-college preparation and readiness programs.
- Experience evaluating programs and services.
- Experience completing required reports for federal grants including annual performance reports.

Physical requirements and working conditions
