Quality Control Manager

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead and oversee all quality assurance and quality control activities within our welding and manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) that ensures compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, applicable codes, and company objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding fabrication and manufacturing processes, extensive experience managing quality programs, and the ability to work closely with our Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), production teams, engineering personnel, and customers to promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
• Establish and enforce quality control procedures, inspection plans, and documentation requirements throughout the manufacturing process.
• Work closely with the company's Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to ensure welding activities comply with applicable codes, standards, procedures, and customer specifications.
• Oversee inspection and testing activities, including incoming materials, in-process inspections, final inspections, and documentation review.
• Review and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs), Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQs) as required.
• Analyze quality metrics, nonconformances, customer complaints, and corrective actions to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Coordinate internal and external quality audits and support customer, regulatory, and certification audits.
• Ensure compliance with AWS, AISC, ASME, ISO, customer-specific requirements, and other applicable standards.
• Train and mentor employees on quality requirements, inspection standards, welding quality expectations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, purchasing, and management teams to resolve quality issues and improve manufacturing processes.
• Generate and maintain quality reports, inspection records, and compliance documentation.
• Assist in developing quality objectives and performance indicators to support business goals.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of quality control or quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working with welding fabrication, welding inspection, or welding-related manufacturing processes.
• Strong knowledge of welding methods, fabrication practices, weld symbols, blueprints, and quality inspection techniques.
• Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining Quality Management Systems.
• Demonstrated experience leading corrective action and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and code requirements.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and quality-related documentation systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification or experience working directly with CWIs.
• Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1, AISC, ASME, or other applicable welding and fabrication standards.
• Experience managing quality audits, certification programs, and customer compliance requirements.
• Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Welding Technology, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to work in both office and manufacturing shop environments.
• Ability to perform inspections in fabrication and welding areas.
• Occasional lifting, walking, standing, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Ability to travel occasionally for supplier, customer, or certification audits if needed.

Pay: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour
