Overview
The Crisis Responder plays a critical role in providing immediate support and intervention to individuals experiencing acute emotional or psychological distress. This position requires a compassionate and skilled professional who can assess situations effectively, implement crisis management strategies, and facilitate access to appropriate resources. The Crisis Responder will work collaboratively with other mental health professionals to ensure the well-being of clients in crisis.

Important Requirements

  • Must reside within approximately 10–15 minutes of Western Lane Fire and EMS Authority to respond promptly to calls.
  • Must be physically able to stand and walk for extended periods, sometimes for several hours at a time.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine the immediate needs of individuals in crisis.
  • Implement crisis management techniques to stabilize clients and reduce emotional distress.
  • Provide behavioral health support, including grief counseling as needed.
  • Utilize cognitive behavioral therapy and behavior management strategies to assist clients in coping with their situations.
  • Document all interactions, assessments, and interventions accurately and promptly.
  • Engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills related to applied behavior analysis and crisis intervention.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in crisis management techniques and patient assessment methodologies.
  • Lived experience with mental health challenges or substance use, with at least two years in recovery.
  • Familiarity with cognitive behavioral therapy approaches.
  • Ability to implement effective behavior management strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for clear documentation and collaboration with team members.
  • Capacity for empathy, patience, and resilience when working with individuals in distress.

This position is essential for fostering a supportive environment for those facing crises, ensuring they receive the help they need promptly.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
