Steel Detailer - Structural & Misc Metals

Overview

Compensation will be determined based on factors including but not limited to location, skills, abilities, and experience.

Western Fabrication Center specializes in structural steel, misc. metals, decorative metals, and various mechanical projects. Many projects are highly custom and require a detailer with exceptional creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years detailing experience, 5 years preferred. Open to train the right individual with minimal experience.
• Knowledge of relevant design codes and requirements is preferred
• Ability to read/interpret design drawings and specs
• Must be able to work independently using critical thinking
• Knowledge and experience with Word, Excel, MS Project, and Tekla Structures.
• Communication: excellent oral presentation and written skills required.
• Interpersonal: able to work well with individuals at all organization levels.
• Organizational: able to plan, prioritize, organize and monitor activities and projects.
• Collaboration: Able to work well in a group environment with a team approach.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Tekla structures software preferred.
• Experience in Steel detailing
• experience in industrial steel construction
• Knowledge of welding/fabrication

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Generate an accurate, well-organized model for each project
• Take measurements of existing structures/equipment and transcribe information to new drawings.
• Develop and design project models based on input from field data and Project Manager inputs.
• Produce shop drawings & installation details
• Coordinate with the fabrication shop, project coordinator, and design team
• Generate complete submittal packages for approval and for fabrication

Compensation:

• Starting pay based on experience. Minimal experience with on the job training would be around 25.00
