Responsibilities- Safely and skillfully operate a cold planer milling machine to mill asphalt/concrete surfaces following all standard equipment procedures.
- Maintains equipment in proper operating condition by performing simple preventive maintenance and repair tasks such as adjusting, fluid checks, replacing minor parts and lubricating equipment.
- Responsible for daily checks of the milling drum, conveyors and water supply systems.
- Responsible for daily inspection and replacement of milling teeth on the milling drum to assure proper cutting patterns on pavement surfaces.
- Must maintain an acute sense of awareness to the surrounding footprint of the machine (watch for obstructions while operating the equipment, such as trees, utilities, curb and gutters).
- Maintain constant visual contact with co-workers on the ground and trucks in front of the machine.
- May perform general laborer duties as assigned.
- Previous experience as an Asphalt Mill Operator or similar role is preferred
- Strong understanding of safety practices and regulations in construction environments
- Ability to operate heavy machinery with precision and care
- Demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Adaptability to work in various weather conditions and physical environments
- Willingness to take on new challenges and learn new skills
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
