Terramac is looking for an Operations Manager at our St. Louis, MO location. The Operations Manager oversees plant functions concerning day-to-day manufacturing operations while continually improving operations to meet business objectives and ultimately increase revenue and profit. The responsibility of this position includes oversight of all operational reporting, identifying and implementing process improvements to increase plant performance through positive leadership, and developing plans in alignment with the overall business strategic plans.
What You’ll Do:
Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage assembly teams, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance skills and productivity.
Safety Compliance:
- Promote a safe working environment by championing and enforcing safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Production Oversight:
- Plan, organize, and control assembly operations to meet production schedules and objectives.
- Monitor daily production activity, analyze performance metrics, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all assembly processes comply with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address and resolve quality issues.
Resource Management:
- Manage resources effectively, including labor, materials, and equipment to optimize performance and minimize waste.
- Develop and manage the production department annual budget.
- Oversee inventory management and ensure that necessary materials are available for the assembly process.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practice to enhance efficiency and productivity
- Utilize lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations and reduce costs.
- Promote implementation of 5S principles and practices in the production workspace.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments, such as engineering, maintenance, accounting, and supply chain, to ensure seamless operations and foster a collaborative workplace culture.
- Communicate effectively with upper management regarding production performance and challenges, including regular reporting on key metrics and areas for improvement.
What You’ll Need:
- Proven experience in a manufacture or assembly management role.
- Minimum seven (7) years of direct experience in manufacturing/production.
- Strong understanding of the assembly processes, quality control, and safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in production management software and tools.
- Proven experience with production planning and scheduling processes and tools.
- Proficiency in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Strong computer skills and understanding of Manufacturing Operating Systems/ERP (Oracle preferred).
- Strong decision-making skills and results-driven attitude.
- Strong ability to monitor team performance.
- Strong ability to set Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for operational areas.
- Proven understanding of financial management.
- Strong ethical conduct and operates at a high level of integrity.
- Proven ability to identify and initiate process improvements.
- Strong ability to utilize and identify key resources.
- Strong ability to successfully resolve conflict.
- Friendly and customer-focused attitude.
What Helps:
- Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Lean manufacturing implementation preferred.
- Process mapping experience preferred.
- ISO experience preferred.
- Industrial Engineering Degree a plus.
