The role requires strong communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to provide both remote and on-farm support. By maintaining close relationships with producers and collaborating with internal teams, the Application Support Specialist helps drive successful software adoption, continuous improvement, and long-term customer satisfaction. Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to dairy producers in the effective use of herd management and farm performance software.
- Analyze and interpret operational data to deliver insights and recommendations that drive improvements in herd health, reproduction, and productivity.
- Develop, update, and maintain clear, user-focused training materials and instructional guides.
- Design, implement, and manage ongoing training programs to support continued software proficiency and long-term utilization.
- Deliver individual and group training sessions, both on-site and through remote platforms.
- Monitor producer engagement and software usage to identify opportunities for additional training, support, or workflow optimization.
- Maintain consistent, proactive communication with producers, offering guidance, updates, and performance-focused recommendations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure software features, updates, and capabilities meet producer needs and align with industry standards.
- Travel within the assigned territory to provide in-person training, support, and follow-up services.
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications
- 5 years dairy farm work experience
- or 2 year certificate or 4 year degree in a dairy related discipline.
- Extensive knowledge of dairy animals and the finer details of how large dairies operate.
- Previous experience in dairy customer support, or sales environments is highly desirable.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general data entry tasks.
- Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—to clearly convey information and build rapport with clients.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) capabilities will help you connect with a broader audience and provide more inclusive support.
- Understanding of dairy equipment such as parlors, required.
- Ability to work in a variety of temperatures indoors and outdoors.
- Regular travel to customer livestock facilities is required. Drives company vehicle during performance of duties safely and responsibly during scheduled work days and maintains a valid driver's license.
- Good analysis and troubleshooting skills to understand customer needs quickly and suggest appropriate solutions.
