What are the responsibilities and job description for the University Budget Analyst position at Western Carolina University?
The primary location of this position is on-site in Cullowhee, NC. This position is designated as being exempt from the State of North Carolina Human Resources Act (EHRA).
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Budget Director, as well as the university community on Banner Finance, budget, and position control related matters. Areas of responsibility include preparation of various budget documents submitted to the General Assembly, the UNC System Office, and the State Budget Office and the development and maintenance of various budget controls (i.e., base/continuation budgets), fiscal projections, compilation and assembly of historical, operational, statistical, and financial data to assist in administrative decisions. The position plays a key role in providing appropriate resource and cost information to assist university administrators in reaching conclusions about the adequacy and use of current institutional resources and planning for the future.

Minimum Qualifications
Interested candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employment sponsorship or any other immigration-related assistance.- Master’s degree in business, accounting, public administration, or related field with 2-4 years of experience in budget analysis, financial planning, or fiscal management; OR Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, public administration, or related field with 3-5 years of experience in budget analysis, financial planning, or fiscal management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in developing budgets for a governmental agency or non-profit agency. Coursework in accounting or pubic administration. Knowledge of Banner Finance. Excellent excel or other data management skills.
