Lumberyard Assistant Full-Time

Johnson Madison / Western Building Center is locally owned and has been in business for over 100 years.
Shift: Day shift, all seasons Monday through Friday
Johnson Madison / Western Building Center is seeking a hardworking person who takes pride in a job well done. This full-time lumberyard assistant position will give you the opportunity to excel in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Feeling strong? Applicants must be able to lift items weighing 80 pounds. Forklift experience is recommended but not required. Materials and equipment training will be provided.
PURPOSE
Perform duties pertaining to lumberyard maintenance and customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain and organize inventory in lumberyard and associated warehouse
2. Assist customers with loading building materials in all weather conditions
3. Unload freight from vendors and distributors
4. Plan and pace daily tasks efficiency in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related productivity goals.
5. Maintain logs of equipment repair status
6. Understand and observe all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attend periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
7. Other duties may be assigned
COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of company products
Good customer service and communications skills
High level of organizational skills
Math skills required
Ability to work independently
Ability to read customer orders and follow safety regulations
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Clean driving record
A drug test will be administered prior to employment
