Job Summary: Performing a range of administrative and accounting duties to support the finance department.
Responsibilities:
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others including internal staff, the general public and external organizations public through verbal, written and electronic communication
- Setting goals and prioritizing tasks for the department
- Maintains confidentiality and exercise discretion regarding work related issues
- Ability to identify problems and work interdependently with other staff in the District, with members of the public and other departments and federal agencies
- Assists with proper receipt and disbursement of departmental and grant funds and assists in the assurance that these funds are used for the purposes for which they are allocated
- Reconcile various general ledger accounts
- Provides information to various departments involving business management services and fiscal development
- Annually, and in conjunction with the Director of Finance & Operations, coordinates mandated internal audit activity
- Supports monitoring of the budget and assists with the district variance reports and to review any deficiency with appropriate department personnel
- Preparation of bank deposits
- Assists with annual third party audit; coordinating financial and business management services
- Receive, process, and maintain all meal benefit applications
- School Food Authority monitoring and compliance duties as assigned
- Billing of district services; including tuition, transportation, Medicaid, and other miscellaneous billing
- A commitment to professional development and the willingness to pursue professional qualifications, including accounting diplomas
- Any other relevant duties in support of the finance team
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles with working knowledge of accounting software preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting procedures practiced in local government.
- Budget preparation.
- Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Associates Degree in business administration, assessment, public administration or closely related field preferred.
- Physical Requirements:
- Walk, climb stairs, bend and lift up to 45lb
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must provide a current national background check without disqualifying results at time of hire.
