Job Details:
The Clinical Support Tech greets all patients and visitors entering the department and facilitates workflow and assists with daily operations.
Responsibilities:
- Adheres to Department specific state regulations, e.g., maintains confidential information in accordance with HIPPA guidelines. Complies with hospital policies and procedures.
- Ensures that all patients have a prescription; if needed, contacts the schedulers or MD office to obtain it.
- Assists the nursing and technical staff with preparing patients for their visit.
- Assists RN in calling patients to troubleshoot device connectivity, transmission and device alerts.
- Assist patients with scheduling appointments, and completing patient registration forms such as MSPQ
- and consents.
- Handles patient scheduling for appointments and follow ups and technical and professional billing.
- Distributes patients' paperwork to appropriate area, notifying the area of the patient's arrival. Registers patients for scheduled visit.
- Maintains supply of materials necessary for patient care and for work related dutiesfor the department.
- Initiates requisitions for supplies, equipment, maintenance and repair services.
- Responds to inquiries and handles phone calls appropriately, including responding to calls from physicians. Reports pertinent information or unusual circumstances to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Coordinates work within the unit and effectively interacts with co-workers and other staff members to ensure quality patient care.
- Ensures patient's charts are in proper order and enters and completes orders into systems if required. Contacts physicians, labs, x-rays, and other departments as necessary.
- Effectively uses automated systems to perform work assignments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience: Minimum two years of experience in a clinical setting, either in an acute hospital setting or medical office, with knowledge of basic patient care functions. Scheduling and registration experience required. Computer skills required. Billing experience preferred. Strong organizational skills are essential. Excellent customer service skills necessary.
Education: High school Diploma required, college courses preferred.
