What are the responsibilities and job description for the Case Picker position at Westchester Medical Center?
Job Summary:
Assembles and maintains case carts with required supplies for emergent and routine surgical cases.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews Operating Room (OR) schedule and participates in daily rounds to determine case carts and supplies required for upcoming surgical procedures.
- Collaborates with Central Sterile and OR Materials Management team members to obtain required supplemental surgical instrumentation and related supplies.
- Utilizes pick lists as a reference to assemble case carts.
- Picks items and assembles case carts for upcoming and anticipated surgical
cases. Ensures integrity of related packaging, wraps, and containers.
- Identifies and/or missing items and obtains replacements, as required. Informs management of related inventory needs.
- Transports case carts to appropriate locations within OR for use.
- Communicates with OR team members to ensure availability of needed supplies.
- Performs required duties to maintain a contaminant-free work environment.
- Adheres to department policies and procedures and related regulatory standards in the performance of duties.
- Documents and maintains records of daily activities according to department policies and procedures.
- Participates in department quality control programs and in-service training, as required.
- Performs related duties, as required.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:
- Prior related OR experience, preferred
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.

- Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing) and
follow oral and/or written instructions, required.
