POSITION SUMMARY: 

 

Performs patient treatments under the general supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to include patient transfers; preparing patients and equipment; performing treatments and other duties assigned or required.

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.         Works with senior staff to develop professional skills, new programs, patient treatment   

             plans as needed.

2.         Assists in developing criteria for proper utilization of personnel.

3.         Assist in orientation of new rehab staff.

4.         Demonstrate proper respect, attitude, courtesy, professionalism and communication skills

             towards patients, staff, co-workers, doctors, administration personnel.

5.         Treatment is performed as ordered in a safe timely manner with staff and family

             members involved in treatment when indicated.

6.         Assist in adjusting schedule to caseload to meet demands of treatment of patients.

7.         Implements documentation of care in accordance with accepted APTA standard of care.

8.         Participates in Q.A./P.I. monitors, reporting and utilization of Physical Therapy Services.

9.         Assists Physical therapists in obtaining and interpreting information appropriate for the

            age of the patient under care.

10.       Responsible for treatment or care of patients. Competent in the following, as appropriate

            to the ages of the patients:

            -           The ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the

                        patient’s needs.

            -           A knowledge of Human growth and development.

            -           An understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patient.

 

11.       May be required to vary shifts and/or weekend rotation as needs of the department          

            dictate.

12.       May include overtime, only if approved by Director.

 

 

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

 11.       Ability to give and carry out oral and written instructions.

 13.        Ability to sit, stand and walk frequently.

 14.        Ability to supervise and instruct.

 15.        Be able to lift, carry, use hands and fingers skillfully, safely and easily.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

Light work:  Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, up to 1/3 of the time to move objects.  Requires walking or standing to a significant degree and requires sitting a minimal amount of time.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: 

 

Inside:  Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

 

REASONING DEVELOPMENT: 

 

Be able to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Interpret and direct a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form.

 

MATHEMATICAL DEVELOPMENT: 

 

Be able to compute standard measures, weights, ratios, volumes as are common in Physical Therapy.

           

LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT: 

 

Reading:  Read and understand instructions and be able to convey instructions and guidance to subordinates.

 

Writing:  Write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar using all parts of speech.

 

Speaking:  Speak with poise, authority, voice control, confidence and respect using correct English in a well-modulated voice.

 

RELATIONSHIPS TO DATA, PEOPLE AND THINGS:

 

Data:  Coordinating:  Determining time, place and sequence of operations or actions to be taken based on analysis of data; executing determination of and/or reporting on events.

 

People:  Supervising:  Determining or interpreting work procedures for a group of workers, assigning specific duties to them, maintaining harmonious relations among them and promoting efficiency.  A variety of responsibilities are involved in this function.

 

Things: Handling:  Using body members, hand tools, and/or special devices to work, move or carry objects or material. Involves little or no latitude for judgment with regard to attainment of standards or in selecting appropriate tools, objects or material.

 

QUALIFICATION:

 

Specific Academic Preparation:  Specific Academic Preparation includes an occupationally significant combination of academic education, Internship and training, or a minimum of 1 year experience in Physical Therapy.

 

To do this job, you must have the following amount of total education and/or experience:

            -           Associate in science degree in Physical Therapy.

            -           Must have a current Physical Therapy license from the State of Florida

            -           Must have a current CPR Certification.
