Field Representative – West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office

The West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office (WVSOS) is seeking a new Field Representative to be an official, on-the-ground presence in an assigned region.
About the Role:
You will be the WVSOS liaison, connecting our office with county and city election officials, business leaders, community organizations, and the general public. This crucial role ensures the successful execution of WVSOS programs, including the administration of elections, business services, and public outreach initiatives.
Key Responsibilities & Impact:
Election Support: Serve as the primary contact and provide expert guidance to local election officials, ensuring smooth, lawful, and effective election administration.
Outreach & Engagement: Plan and execute workshops, presentations, and events to promote voter registration, civic education, and awareness of WVSOS services.
Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including county clerks, chambers of commerce, and legislative delegations.
Field Operations: Provide direct support for all WVSOS divisions (Elections, Business, Notary) and assist with mobile office hours, voter drives, and on-site election support.
Regional Insight: Identify and report regional issues and opportunities to WVSOS management.

Familiarity with state government operations and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
This position demands a high level of professionalism, sound judgment, and dedication to public service. Field Representatives serve at the will and pleasure of the WVSOS.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in political science, public administration, communications, or a related field.
Two years of experience in public service, community relations, election administration, or a related area preferred.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Professional attire and conduct are required at all times while representing the Office.
Field Representatives may not serve as elected or appointed members of any partisan executive committee or political organization.
Use of state-issued electronic devices is restricted to official business only.
All Field Representatives are subject to applicable state travel and conduct policies, as well as additional internal guidelines established by WVSOS.
