Parks and Recreation/Chief Logan State Park The Building Maintenance Mechanic is part of a devoted team of employees that serve the public through customer service and maintenance of the facilities and grounds at Chief Logan State Park. This team member is under the direction and supervision of the Park Superintendent and Building and Grounds Manager with direct supervision of the Building Maintenance Supervisor I. This popular park consists of cabins, campsites, swimming pools, picnic area, lodge, recreational center and Wildlife Exhibit area, museum, Pioneer Cabin, Train Exhibit, fishing area, hiking, trails, gift shops, Park Headquarters and support buildings. The Building Maintenance Mechanic performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work throughout Chief Logan State Park, with a focus on maintaining and improving facilities for the enjoyment of the public. Actively engage with park guests to resolve their maintenance requests in a manner reflecting a positive image for Chief Logan State Park. Will work with a team, and independently, to complete maintenance tasks on all buildings and structures located within the park. This work will include both indoor and outdoor projects to keep all facilities and grounds in optimal condition for the park's guests. Common tasks will include electrical work, plumbing, masonry, heating and cooling, grounds maintenance, and wastewater treatment duties. Performs hands-on work in the area of assignment and serves as a lead worker to guide new and seasonal staff. As a lead worker, employee will train staff for proper use and care of all applicable equipment to do their assigned jobs. Train staff to meet expectations and follow proper procedures of completing work assignments. Assists the team in ensuring all equipment is in good repair, and notifies supervisors if issues are found. Must complete basic wastewater operator certification and work with other staff and individually in the daily operation and related maintenance of the wastewater system. Desired knowledge and skills include good verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of building and grounds repairs; ability to operate and maintain an array of motorized equipment, including mowers, chainsaws, dump trucks, etc. Employee must be available to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and night shifts; and must be available for "on call" work. Employee will work throughout all park facilities. Employee must be able to lift and move heavy objects and will be required to work on ladders and at rooftop heights. Must be licensed or eligible to operate a motor vehicle. Employee will perform all related work as required or assigned. Employee will be required to wear state-provided uniforms. Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.

Training: No formal education required.
Experience: Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in building maintenance or as a helper in a building trade.
Special Requirement: Specific positions may require certification from a federal EPA approved testing organization as a certified technician required by the Clean Air Act on refrigerant recycling.
Salary : $29,070 - $49,360
