**Exempt Position**
The West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation is seeking motivated applicants for the EXEMPT position of General Counsel for the agency. This attorney reports to the Commissioner of Corrections, advising the executive team charged with managing all bureaus of the WVDCR. This attorney will supervise and direct the work of a paralegal. Examples of areas of responsibility, but not all inclusive are as followed: consultation on DCR policy and procedure, agency vendor service contracts, agency memorandums of understanding, consultation on personnel matters of employees covered under the WV Division of Personnel merit system, legislative matters, liaison with attorneys representing the agency from BRIM, and liaison to counsel within the Homeland Security office of the Secretary, Occasional travel required.
This is an EXEMPT position, therefore, the required areas and length of experience in practice listed in the minimum qualifications are negotiable.

EXPERIENCE: Eight years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in the practice of law, including trial experience in administrative or judicial proceedings.
SUBSTITUTION: One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment as an attorney with the agency to which assigned shall be considered the equivalent of two years of other qualifying experience.
