Directly Responsible To: Facilities Director

 

Primary Responsibility: Perform, in a professional manner, all functions in regards to the
repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, wiring systems, alarm/intercom and fire system within the buildings, grounds and new construction/installation(s) of West Valley School District.

 

Responsibility:

  • Knowledge of standard practices used in connection with electrical equipment and working systems, as well as up to date with electrical codes.
  • Repair, install, service and maintain all phases of electrical motors, timing devices, lighting, wiring, heat/cooling systems, fire alarms, clock/bell and intercom systems and power circuits.
  • Replace switches, ballasts, fuses, receptacles, circuit breakers, fixtures, florescent tubes and light bulbs.
  • Read blueprints and schematics
  • Assume primary responsibility for the safe electrical condition of school facilities.
  • Report any electrical problems immediately to the Facilities Director.
  • Recommends electrical supplies and equipment for purchase, and maintains the inventory of district owned hand tools, equipment, hardware, materials, and supplies needed to maintain electrical department.
  • Perform other general maintenance duties as assigned by Facilities Directors.
  • Perform all requirements for building electrical plan(s), reviews, and/or provide information to electrical engineer as requested.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Physical ability to lift 50 – 100 pounds
  • Able to climb 30-foot ladder and work from varying heights on ladders, hi-lifts, or platforms.
  • Must be able to be on feet for an 8 hour shift
  • Must have the physical and mental ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation(s).
  • Be able to train others in electrical safety and work assignments such as ballast or light fixture replacement.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

 

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks using existing skills. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in industrial cleaning; and adhering to safety practices.

 

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent’s, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak
clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes health standards and hazards, methods of industrial cleaning and safety practices and procedures.

 

ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use job-related equipment.
Flexibility is required to work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate
equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a
diversity of individuals; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize specific, job-related
equipment. In working with others, problem solving with data requires following prescribed
guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific abilities required to
satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include communicating with diverse groups,
displaying mechanical aptitude, meeting deadlines and schedules, setting priorities, working as part of a team, adapting to changing work priorities and working with frequent interruptions.

 

Bilingual Preferred

 

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Credentials: Possess current Washington State Journeymen Level License.
Experience: Minimum four (4) years in the electrical trade at Journeymen Level.
Personal Qualities: Ability to plan/analyze systems. Ability to work independently and perform assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner.
Clearances: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background clearance, Drug Screening and Basic work physical.
