Construction Estimator

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Civil and Mechanical Construction Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our commercial construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing blueprints and technical drawings, and managing project budgets from inception to completion. Your expertise will help ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while fostering strong relationships with clients and vendors. Duties

• Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately estimate material requirements and labor costs.
• Utilize estimating software such as construction management tools to develop comprehensive project bids.
• Conduct detailed cost analysis including material costs, subcontractor quotes, equipment needs, and labor rates.
• Manage project estimates by coordinating with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to negotiate pricing and scope adjustments.
• Prepare detailed spreadsheets and reports for budgeting, cost control, and project forecasting.
• Review construction contracts to ensure all scope items are accurately estimated and accounted for in bids.
• Collaborate closely with project managers during the bidding process to ensure estimates align with project goals and client expectations.
• Monitor ongoing projects for cost management opportunities and adjust estimates as needed to maintain profitability.
• Conduct site visits to gather on-the-ground information that influences accurate estimation.
• Stay current with industry trends, material prices, and new estimating techniques to continually improve accuracy and efficiency.

Skills

• Proficiency in digital blueprint review and markup.
• Strong negotiation skills for vendor quotes, subcontractor agreements, and client discussions.
• Experience and similar estimating software for commercial construction projects like Ariba, Quickbooks online and Procore.
• Skilled in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and construction documents.
• Excellent knowledge of construction management software platforms such as Procore or Viewpoint.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel spreadsheets for detailed cost analysis.
• Ability to read and review complex construction drawings accurately.
• Expertise in cost management, material estimating, and budgeting for large-scale projects.
• Practical experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the heavy civil or commercial sectors.
• Deep understanding of contracts, scope of work development, and pricing strategies.
• Strong communication skills for client interactions and team collaboration.
• Construction site experience to better understand on-the-ground realities influencing estimates.

Pay: $71,212.32 - $85,761.08 per year
