Front Counter Sales & Rental Associate
West Street Power — New Milford, CT
$17–$25 per hour, based on experience

About us
West Street Power is a family-owned outdoor power equipment dealership serving New Milford and the surrounding area since 2009. We sell and service Husqvarna, Scag, Stihl, Ferris, and Milwaukee equipment, run a rental fleet, and take pride in being the shop customers trust to keep their equipment running.
About the role
You'll be the face and voice of our shop. When a customer walks in or calls, you're the one who helps them — whether they're buying a new mower, picking up parts, renting equipment for the weekend, or checking on a repair.
A Power equipment background is preferred but we hire for attitude and coachability — if you're friendly, reliable, and willing to learn, we'll teach you the rest.
What you'll do
- Greet customers at the counter and answer incoming phone calls
- Sell equipment, parts, and accessories — and help customers figure out what they actually need
- Handle rental check-outs and returns, including walking customers through equipment operation
- Look up parts, place orders, and manage customer pick-ups
- Keep customers updated on service and repair status
- Help load and unload equipment for customers
What we're looking for
Required:
- A friendly, helpful attitude with customers, in person and on the phone
- Reliability
- Saturday availability
- Comfort using a computer for lookups, orders, and invoices
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and help move equipment
Nice to have (not required):
- Retail, counter, or customer service experience
- Familiarity with lawn mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, or small engines
- Experience in a parts department, hardware store, or rental operation
Schedule
We're open Monday through Saturday. We're flexible on schedule for the right person — full-time is ideal, but we're open to part-time arrangements too. Some Saturday availability is a must.
