Physical Education Teacher

Physical Education Teacher West Springfield Middle School West Springfield Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Middle School Physical Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will create a positive, inclusive, and engaging physical education environment that encourages students to develop healthy lifelong habits, physical skills, teamwork, and confidence. Responsibilities: - Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate physical education instruction for students in grades 6-8. - Teach fundamental movement, fitness, sports, wellness, and health-related skills. - Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for students of varying abilities and backgrounds. - Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback. - Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, cooperation, and personal responsibility. - Collaborate with colleagues, families, and school staff to support student success. - Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school activities. - Maintain accurate student records and comply with district policies and expectations. - Properly use, maintain, and monitor Physical Education equipment and facilities. - Supervise students in accordance with school and district expectations. - Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution; - Massachusetts Certification in Physical Education 5-12 Health/Family and Consumer Sciences. - Experience working with middle school students preferred. - Strong classroom management and communication skills. - Commitment to inclusive and student-centered instruction. - Ability to develop engaging lessons that promote physical fitness and lifelong wellness. Salary: Per Unit A Contract Salary Range: $53,939 - $102,056 Work Year: 184 days
