Math Interventionist for English Learners

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Teach grade-level math to newcomers and lower proficiency English Learners using language-accessible strategies.
-Support ELs in mainstream math classes by collaborating with content-area teachers.
-Plan and deliver lessons that include both math and language development goals.
-Use visuals, technology, and hands-on strategies to make math content understandable and engaging.
-Monitor student progress through regular assessments and adjust instruction as needed.
-Build a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and confidence.
-Communicate regularly with families, using translation tools or services when needed.
-Keep accurate records of student progress and instructional practices.
-Participate in team meetings to support ELs and share effective strategies.
-Attend school and district meetings and take part in professional development.
Licensure Requirements:
-Minimum Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; Master’s preferred.
-Massachusetts DESE certification is required in Math 5-8.
-Additional DESE certification in Math 1-6 or ESL, preferred.
Special Requirements or Duties:
-Demonstrated ability to support the diverse academic and linguistic needs of culturally and linguistically varied student populations.
-Skilled in addressing the needs of students with limited, interrupted, or no formal prior schooling.
-Deep understanding of English Learners and a broad repertoire of effective, research-based instructional strategies.
-Minimum of 1–3 years of experience teaching English Learners at the secondary level.
-Proven experience collaborating with colleagues to differentiate instruction and provide targeted support for multilingual learners.
-Strong interpersonal skills with a consistent record of building positive relationships with culturally diverse students, families, and staff to help every student reach their full potential.
-Multilingualism is an asset.
