What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian III (Floater Daytime) - 2 Vacancies position at West Shore School District?
Two Custodian III (Floater Daytime) positions at ACE are available. They are Level 4, 8 hours per day, 249.5 days per year positions. Work hours are first shift, Monday through Friday, with altered hours and extra time as needed and approved. Minimum pay rate is $17.75 per hour.
Required skills include a high school diploma and perform routine tasks without direct supervision.
As a Custodian III (Floater Daytime), you will cover a school building during the day when the head custodian is absent. This is a full-time role which requires flexibility and the ability to learn the dynamics and people in all our schools. The position is based out of our Administration Building in Lewisberry, but will be assigned throughout our District. You are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the school building during school hours. You will communicate regularly with school administrators and office staff to prioritize tasks and support school events. You perform regular inspections to identify maintenance issues or safety hazards. You may handle minor repairs yourself or coordinate with maintenance staff for more complex problems. Throughout the day, you respond to immediate custodial needs, such as spills or urgent clean-ups. You ensure that all custodial supplies are stocked and equipment is in good working condition. In this role, you help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Opportunities exist for additional weekly hours to cover after-school activities and events. This job is for a positive and productive person who will be working around students and adults alike.
Knowledge and ability to perform job function: Maintains assigned area in highest state of cleanliness, repair and comfort for the success of our students. Ability to perform light building maintenance such as lamp and ballast replacement, painting, ceiling tile replacement, etc. Perform general cleaning duties and operate custodial equipment. Complete special event setups and teardowns. Ability to work outside to perform landscaping and athletic field preparations. Operate lawnmower, snow blower, string trimmer, auto scrubber and other common hand tools. Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 80 pounds and work at heights of up to 30 feet.
