Instructional Support 3 - Interventionist
Department: Instructional Support FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate human support work assisting teachers by providing supplemental instruction and support to students in need of extra assistance, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Principal.

Essential Functions
Directly instructs students in programs selected by the principal, teacher, or school intervention team; reviews coverage and comprehension of subject matter or lessons and administers weekly probes; records data for the individual interventions.
Provides appropriate instructional and behavioral feedback to students.
Participates in school intervention team meetings as directed by the Principal or designee.
Assists with school-wide testing including Pals testing, and SOL testing; helps administer one-on-one SOL testing for certain students.
Collaborates with colleagues to continuously improve personal practice, classroom instruction, assessment, and student achievement, as well as the overall goals and mission of the school and school division.
Establishes, models practice, and reinforces age-appropriate rules and logical consequences; assists with the implementation of the school behavioral support model.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum and program development for special students; general knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of school administration; general knowledge of school organization and administration; ability to develop and present ideas effectively, orally and in written form; ability to deal with challenging behavioral situations; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other staff, subordinates, supervisors, School Board, parents, and the general public.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work frequently speaking or hearing and occasionally requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel, and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

Valid driver's license.
