Field Superintendent – Pipeline Construction

West Penn Energy Services is seeking an experienced Field Superintendent to lead and oversee pipeline construction projects. This is a hands-on, field-based leadership role responsible for managing daily construction operations, ensuring safety and quality compliance, and driving projects to successful completion.
The ideal candidate brings extensive pipeline construction experience, strong crew leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex field operations while maintaining schedule, safety, and cost controls.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Field Operations
- Direct and supervise daily pipeline construction activities including excavation, installation, welding support, coating, testing, and restoration
- Manage full field execution from mobilization through project completion
- Ensure work complies with project plans, specifications, drawings, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor progress and adjust field operations to meet schedules and deadlines
- Coordinate mobilization, equipment staging, and right-of-way preparation
Leadership & Crew Management
- Lead, assign, and supervise crews and subcontractors
- Set clear expectations and maintain productivity, discipline, and accountability
- Provide on-site coaching, direction, and problem resolution
- Promote a strong safety culture and teamwork across field personnel
Safety Oversight
- Enforce all OSHA, company, and client safety requirements
- Conduct daily toolbox talks, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and safety briefings
- Identify hazards and ensure immediate corrective actions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant jobsite
Quality & Compliance
- Inspect work to ensure compliance with company standards and client specifications
- Review construction drawings, alignment sheets, and technical documents
- Identify and correct quality deficiencies to minimize rework
Communication & Reporting
- Serve as the primary field point of contact for Project Managers, inspectors, and clients
- Provide regular updates on progress, delays, and field conditions
- Maintain accurate daily reports, logs, quantities, crew hours, and equipment usage
Resource & Cost Control
- Coordinate labor, equipment, and materials efficiently
- Monitor equipment utilization and report maintenance or operational issues
- Support cost control efforts by minimizing downtime, waste, and rework
Qualifications
- 8–10 years of pipeline construction experience in a Superintendent or senior field leadership role
- Strong knowledge of pipeline construction methods, sequencing, and industry standards
- Proven leadership and crew management experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and construction documents
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and field documentation systems
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to travel as required based on project needs
