What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Counselor position at WEST MORRIS AREA YMCA?
POSITION SUMMARY: Looking for fun & energetic summer camp counselors!
7-hour daily shift - Monday to FridayMust be at least 17 years old. Junior/Senior Counselor Positions available.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains a culture of safety.
- Supports assigned activities which may include sports, games, crafts, clean-up, fire drills and other procedures required.
- Administer EMERGENCY First Aid and/or CPR to any injured person as needed.
- Maintain records and forms required by the Senior Youth Services Director.
- Supervise and discipline children based on written policies.
- Counselors consult with the Camp Leadership on any questions of policy or procedure, disciplinary action, or safety.
- Ensure that areas, equipment, and facilities used by the students are maintained in a clean, serviceable, safe, and orderly manner.
- Share skills and talents for the improvement of the program.
- Prepare and distribute snacks.
- Additional tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPR/First aid certification (preferred).
- Understanding of and enthusiasm for the mission of the YMCA.
- 1-year experience working with children in a learning or camp environment (preferred).
- Ability to effectively relate to diverse groups of people from all socio-economic backgrounds and communities.
