What are the responsibilities and job description for the Med Tech/Caregiver position at West Morning Star Care Home?
The Medication Technician is responsible for safely administering medications to residents in accordance with physician orders, state regulations (NAC 449), and facility policies. This role includes documenting medication administration, monitoring for side effects, and assisting with routine caregiving duties when needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Administer medications accurately and timely as prescribed, following all state and facility protocols
- Document medication administration in resident MARs (Medication Administration Records)
- Report any side effects, medication refusals, or irregularities to the Administrator or medical provider
- Maintain security and inventory of medications, ensuring proper storage and disposal
- Monitor residents for changes in behavior, physical condition, or medication effectiveness
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) when needed, including hygiene and meals
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold resident dignity at all times
- Participate in shift change reporting and staff meetings
- Follow all emergency procedures, safety protocols, and infection control practices
- Comply with all West Morning Star Care Home policies and Nevada State licensing regulations
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Medication Administration certification approved by the State of Nevada
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification
- Negative TB test and drug screening
- Must pass a criminal background check (per NRS 449)
- Ability to read and follow written medication orders and care instructions

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
