What are the responsibilities and job description for the Land Development Coordinator position at West Homes?
As Land Development Coordinator, you will play a critical support role in our company, working closely with the President, the land development and homebuilding teams. You will help keep projects moving forward by maintaining schedules, coordinating documentation, and supporting the land development process from early planning through project completion. This role requires proactive, consistent communication with engineers, municipalities, and utility providers. The ideal candidate is comfortable picking up the phone daily to obtain updates, resolve issues, and keep projects moving forward. Success in this position depends on persistence, follow-up, and the ability to get answers—not waiting for them. Position is based in the Richmond, Virginia area. Regular travel will be required.

Using these skills, you will:
- Coordinate and maintain development schedules, ensuring timely updates and communication across teams.
- Support the plat recording process, including preparing and processing subdivision plats, easements, and related documentation.
- Collaborate with legal teams, engineers, government agencies, and internal team members to ensure projects progress on schedule.
- Manage and maintain organized project files and documentation.
- Track and maintain key data, including land & lot costs, parcel IDs, property taxes, and construction bonds.
- Assist with developing and improving systems for development processes and tracking.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Land Development team.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional work experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with project management systems or document management tools (preferred, not required).
- Experience working in land development, construction, or real estate environments, including real estate paralegal or engineering businesses (preferred, not required).
This position will be based in the Richmond VA area with some travel required. This employer is offering a competitive compensation package which includes a base salary of $65,000 - $75,000, result-driven bonuses, and benefits including healthcare and PTO
