SUMMARY: The Media Advisor coordinates and oversees student-led live streaming and digital media productions for school activities and events. This position supports students in planning, producing, and broadcasting athletic events, music and performing arts events, assemblies, and other school activities.

The advisor provides supervision, mentorship, technical oversight, and organizational support while encouraging students to take primary responsibility for production, creative development, and content creation. The position also coordinates on-air commentators, manages streaming equipment and production needs, troubleshoots issues, and supports the creation of content for approved school social media channels.

Schedule: This position will operate after the regular school day but will require a flexible evening schedule based on the school's event and streaming calendar. Evening and occasional weekend work will be required for athletic events, performances, concerts, and other school activities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience or demonstrated ability working with and supervising students.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple event and production needs.
• Ability to learn and operate video, audio, computer, streaming, and related production equipment.
• Ability to remain calm and respond effectively to technical or operational issues during live events.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and occasional weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)

• Coordinate and supervise student streaming and media production teams.
• Schedule and organize streaming coverage for various school events.
• Assign and oversee student production responsibilities, including cameras, directing, graphics, audio, commentary, replay, and content creation.
• Mentor students in live production, digital media, video creation, and responsible social media practices.
• Encourage students to develop and implement creative ideas for broadcasts and digital content.
• Coordinate commentators for broadcasts, including ensuring at least one approved adult commentator and encouraging student commentary when available.
• Set up, operate, maintain, and properly store streaming and production equipment.
• Monitor live productions and troubleshoot technical or operational issues as needed.
• Maintain organized equipment, production files, schedules, templates, and other resources.
• Coordinate with coaches, activity directors, music and performing arts staff, administration, and other school personnel regarding production needs.
• Assist with creating, editing, or producing media assets when student participation or availability is limited.
• Ensure student-produced content and broadcasts comply with applicable school policies, copyright requirements, privacy expectations, and social media guidelines.
• Identify equipment, software, training, and other resources needed to support the program.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to move throughout school facilities, athletic venues, performance spaces, and other event locations.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with live streaming, broadcast production, video production, or digital media.
• Experience with cameras, audio equipment, streaming platforms, graphics, video editing, or production software.
• Experience creating content for social media or other digital platforms.
• Experience working with student media, broadcasting, communications, marketing, or educational technology.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondences in the English language.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally, expressively, and reactively.
• Ability to understand and communicate as a subject matter expert for given sport/activity.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgement.
• Adhere to the assigned work schedule by maintaining regular and punctual attendance.
