POSITION OVERVIEW
West End Elementary School is seeking a highly skilled, student-centered, and visionary instructional leader dedicated to building a culture of academic excellence and community pride. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong record of success in school leadership, a commitment to continuous improvement, and a passion for leading with integrity and purpose.
This is a critical leadership position requiring stability, collaboration, and a long-term commitment to the success of West End Elementary and the Rome City Schools community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree or higher in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field.
- Valid Georgia Tier II Leadership Certification (or eligible for Tier II certification).
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful administrative or leadership experience, preferably in an elementary setting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead effective instructional programs and improve student outcomes.
- Demonstrated success in leading a turnaround school or documented experience improving student outcomes are highly desirable and recommended
- Commitment to serve in the principal role at West End Elementary School long-term.
- Residency within the Rome community is highly recommended to foster strong school-community relationships.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Leadership
- Provide visionary leadership in curriculum, instruction, and assessment to ensure high levels of student achievement.
- Collaborate with staff to design and implement data-driven improvement strategies.
- Monitor teaching effectiveness and promote evidence-based instructional practices.
- Foster a school culture of collaboration, innovation, and high expectations for all students and staff.
School Culture & Climate
- Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe school environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and engagement.
- Build trust and morale among students, staff, and families through visibility, communication, and consistency.
- Champion social-emotional learning and equitable practices that meet the needs of all learners.
Talent Development
- Recruit, hire, and retain high-quality teachers and staff.
- Supervise, support, and evaluate personnel with an emphasis on professional growth and accountability.
- Create leadership development opportunities for staff to promote shared ownership of school goals.
Organizational Management
- Develop and manage the school’s budget and resources responsibly.
Oversee school operations, including maintenance, transportation, nutrition, and technology support. - Ensure compliance with district policies, state regulations, and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation as required.
Family & Community Engagement
- Serve as the face of West End Elementary, building partnerships with parents, families, and community stakeholders.
- Promote open communication, accessibility, and trust between the school and community.
- Collaborate with local organizations to support student success beyond the classroom.
District Collaboration
- Work closely with the Superintendent and district leaders to align school priorities with the Rome City Schools strategic plan.
- Participate in system-wide professional learning and leadership initiatives.
- Model the Rome City Schools' core values and uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and conduct.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- 240-day contract
- Compensation based on the system salary scale
- Supplement negotiable for proven, experienced principals
