ABOUT THE ORGANIZATIONWest End Economic Development Corporation (WEEDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to strengthening and diversifying the economy of the West End region. WEEDC serves communities across western Montrose and San Miguel Counties by supporting local businesses, attracting new investment, and fostering long-term economic resilience.
POSITION OVERVIEWWEEDC is seeking a dynamic and self-driven Executive Director to lead the organization’s strategy, operations, and community impact. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director oversees all aspects of the organization, including management of The Collective Mine Coworking Space.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead business attraction, retention, and expansion efforts in the West End region
- Serve as a liaison with local, state, and federal partners and stakeholders
- Oversee organizational operations, including financial and administrative management
- Manage grant writing, reporting, and compliance activities
- Facilitate access to capital investment and business support resources
- Supervise staff and volunteers
- Conduct community outreach and engagement
- Advocate for West End communities at local, regional, state, and federal levels
- Collaborate with local governments on pro-business initiatives
- Promote and market the region and WEEDC’s work
- Support implementation of the West End Vision Plan
- Represent the organization in public and professional settings
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Strong leadership and ability to work independently
- Excellent problem-solving and strategic thinking skills
- Proven project management experience with multiple priorities
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
- Ability to engage diverse communities with cultural awareness
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort with change and ambiguity
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in economic development, nonprofit leadership, or program management
- Familiarity with workforce development, small business support, or public sector work
- Understanding of regional industries such as agriculture, mining, recreation, and ranching
- Experience with case management or client services
COMPENSATION AND DETAILS
- Salary: $32,000 to $37,000 DOE for 20 to 25 hours per week
- Location: West End region, Montrose and San Miguel Counties
- Reports to: WEEDC Board of Directors
- Travel: Regional and occasional statewide travel required
