What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospice Chaplain position at West Coast Hospice Care?
As our growth continues, West Coast Hospice is seeking a Chaplain in Carlsbad and surrounding areas, to aid in our mission: to provide cost-efficient, quality home care services to the patients entrusted in our care. We are here to exceed the expectations of our patients, clients, and their families by providing excellent clinical care and premier service.

As a Per Diem Hospice Chaplain you will:
- Assure spiritual assessment of patients and families/caregivers in the hospice program; identify spiritual needs
- Provide direct spiritual care to patients and families/caregivers
- Submit concise and timely documentation per agency standards
- Attend interdisciplinary group meetings as a member of the team; provide consultation, education, and support to the team regarding spiritual care
- Attend funerals and memorial services for patients as requested
- Provides bereavement support as needed
- Follow company policies, procedures and directives
- Interact in a positive and constructive manner
- Prioritize and multitask
Hospice is both challenging and rewarding This job requires a person who will never forget that home care is a team effort. Other requirements include:
- Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology, Certified Chaplain, or other experience in spiritual counseling
- Hospice experience preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Respecting the patient's privacy and maintaining confidentiality
- Current California driver's license and automobile liability insurance
