New Directions Afterschool Program
Challenging and rewarding position for an enthusiastic, organized coordinator for a program that provides supervised homework assistance and enrichment activities for elementary school aged students from West Chester Area School District and Westtown schools grades 1 through 5.
This is a dual role, as the afterschool program coordinator will work 14 hours a week for the West Chester Community Center and 16 hours a week for CCIU. This position is 30 hours a week Monday through Thursday from 11:30am to 6:30pm. The program runs from 4pm-6pm.
West Chester Community Center Duties and Responsibilities:
● Design and implement a meaningful afterschool program that meets the news of the program participants
● Develop and maintain a schedule of academic, physical and enrichment activities that are closely aligned with the program’s curriculum
● Recruit and oversee a team of after school program academic coaches to ensure a positive learning environment and program best practice
● Effectively manage student recruitment, enrollment, scheduling and registration procedures to meet program attendance goals
● Oversee budget and expenditure tracking
● Participate in all meetings, workshops and activities organized by Melton Center staff
● Develop and maintain communication and positive relationships with all stakeholders
● Respond promptly and professionally to all students, academic coaches, Center staff and parents/ families
● Communicate with appropriate parties regarding students progress and performance
● Ensure and promote program visibility

Duties & Responsibilities:
● Plan and implement after-school supplemental educational programs for students
● Classroom management experience
● Communicate regularly with participating students' parents, teachers, guidance counselors and administrators, as necessary
Assist with facilitation of the involvement of parents in the education of their children and in the dissemination of information, using translation/interpretation services, as needed
● Plan and implement parent involvement activities within the 21st Century Community Learning Center program
● Communicate regularly with community agencies and social services that serve our participating families to keep them informed of the 21st CCLC program activities and to identify what services are offered
● Educate and refer participating families to community agencies, social services and schools to expand the supports offered to them
Qualifications:
● High School diploma (required)
● Bachelor's Degree in related field, preferred
● Experience working with bilingual/bicultural students, preferred
● Experience working with the applicable age group, preferred
● Experience working in a school and/or non profit setting
● Ability to implement and supervise a positive safe learning environment incorporating academics, enrichment and physical activities
● Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a high degree of integrity
● Must have Act 33 and 34 clearances and federal criminal history background check (available through CCIU upon hire)
● Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Essential Functions:
● Excellent written and oral communication skills
● Must be punctual and reliable
● Ability to work with minimal supervision
● Ability to work with Excel/ Microsoft Office and other web based programs
● Proficiency in technology (internet, etc)
● Ability to keep detailed record
● Ability to successfully handle competing deadlines
Schedule: Monday - Thursday 11:30am - 6:30pm No program on Fridays
